ABOUT![]() My name is Jenna Langer and I am in my third year of college at Sacramento State University. I am majoring in communications: digital media, with an emphasis in multimedia. I am also pursuing a minor in photography and a certificate in managing information on the World Wide Web. After graduating I plan on attending graduate school to study human-computer interaction. I enjoy snowboarding, wakeboarding, biking, tennis, softball, racquetball, frisbee, and the outdoors in general. And of course I love taking photos of all of these things! My favorite types of photography are sports, photojournalism, architecture, landscape, long exposure (night shots), and panoramas. How I got here...I fell in love with photography when I got my first digital camera at the age of 12. I took my camera everywhere and began to build my digital library. When I was 13 years old I took my first darkroom class and loved every minute of it. It inspired me to pursue photography throughout high school. My love of the art only grew with my high school photo teacher, Suzanne Maxwell. Her creative mind and passion for teaching inspired me to do my best. I continued photography through my senior year as an advanced placement student and tutor. I also became the main photographer for our school newspaper, the Redwood Bark. I enjoyed documenting the events at our school and getting my work published for everyone to see. I made my way into the photography industry when I started working at Seawood Photo, in San Anselmo, CA. Working with other photographers and learning about all the equipment was the best learning experience possible. I now can pick up any time of camera and easily figure out how to use it, and even turn around and teach that to someone else! I worked there for two years in high school and I still return when I am home from college. I started college as a photography major, but later switched to communications. While I enjoyed the photo classes and I learned a lot (the zone system, photoshop, matte cutting), the program was not exactly what I wanted and I felt limited with a photography degree. I switched to a photo minor, which is giving me more flexibility and is allowing me to take classes that interest me. My love for photography and computers go hand in hand. The communications: digital media major allows me to apply my artistic and technical skills to computers and the Internet. While taking courses about the Internet and Web Design I decided that I want to make websites more usable for the average person. Computers are such a large part of our everyday lives now, and there is a large need to make technologies easier to use. With masters degree in human-computer interaction I hope to work for a company like Google to help create the newest technologies and make sure they work well. |
